Securing software is one of the most important parts in modern software development.
Fuzzing has become one of the most popular methods to automatically test software.
Most fuzzing approaches need the target software to be recompiled which presupposes
source code to be available. When no source code is available, black box fuzzers are
used. In modern software, states play a big role in its functioning. A black box fuzzer
can come to its limits quick when operating on a stateful target with no knowledge.
The use of a state machine in a fuzzer can make the fuzzer more effective.
This thesis introduces a state machine estimation tool for black box systems. An
approach to estimate the state machine with state-of-the-art algorithms over a defined
interface is proposed. Fuzzing will be used to find more inputs and states of the target
to make a more complete state machine. The implemented approach is evaluated on
two stateful targets LightFTP and BFTPD. With a set of pre-known inputs, the
tool was able to correctly estimate the state machines of the targets and the fuzzing
method proved to be successful in finding more states and inputs. Multiple fuzzing
techniques and automata learning algorithms were benchmarked to find the most
successful combination.
Infusion stands are a central tool in health care. They are mainly found in hospitals, are
usually in use for many years, sometimes carry enormous loads (e.g. irrigation solutions,
perfusors), are also used by mobility-impaired persons to support walking, promote mobility
and self-determination during ongoing infusion therapy, and must be stored in sufficient
numbers. The weaknesses of the existing design of infusion stands are well known to users.
Nevertheless, for decades there has been no further development or adaptation to new,
changed requirements, let alone to new technical possibilities. In the short term, it makes
sense to further develop the existing infusion stand models in an evolutionary manner in
order to quickly produce an improvement in the functions and to mitigate the greatest
weaknesses. In this respect, the project team has shown in the context of technical
developments that there are very simple, but in terms of functionality, safety and data
protection very worthwhile adaptations that can and should be taken up by the industry. The
redesign of the basic element alone brings so much improvement for the use of this aid that
an industrialization in several senses – for the individual and society – would be more than
promising. With this research project, the project group would like to give an impulse for the
participatory involvement of users in assistive technology research. The user groups can
participate in different phases of the product development; at least the products should be
evaluated regularly in their application by the users.
Software packages including their libraries on HPC Systems are in part provided by the OS’ distribution (such as the Linux kernel or libc), in part by the HPC suppliers (such as network-stack libraries like libmxm and libslurm) or are compiled by the HPC centers themselves (such as Open MPI). For stability of the system as a whole, it is of utmost importance, that SW libraries’ Application Binary Interface (ABI) do not change unnoticed. This TS evaluates the basics of ABI changes, semantic versioning as a means to signal breaking changes, and the tool ABI compliance checker.
This master thesis shows a holistic approach for the optimization of the energy management task for a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. The ‘Equivalent Consumption Minimization Strategy’ (‘ECMS’) as a local optimal approach is implemented into an embedded controller and applied to a system simulation model in ‘GT-SUITE’, which integrates a hybrid drivetrain and the associated control structure with a thermal management model. Two modifications and one extension to the basic ‘equivalent consumption’ cost function are proposed for the favor of an unambiguous interpretation of the penalty factor term, an enhanced applicability of the ‘ECMS’ close to the battery state of charge limit and an effective applicability of the ‘EMCS’ to the thermal management task. All proposed modifications and extensions prove their applicability in the virtual test environment and recommend themselves for the utilization in further application areas, like the integration of exhaust aftertreatment system, the holistic evaluation of a fuel cell drivetrain or the holistic evaluation of a hybrid ship propulsion system.
Recently the production of electric cars is increasing worldwide. The main target is to lower the greenhouse gas emissions. Even if an electrified vehicle is locally emission-free the manufacturing of lithium ion batteries are producing significant amounts of CO2. In order to decrease the air pollution governments are considering recycling programs to extend battery life and usage of important raw materials. A new approach to recover LiNixMnyCozO2 (NMC) particles while saving the chemical and morphological properties using water was presented by Tim Sieber et al. [1]. With the presented study, we are focusing on the analysis of the effects on the Global Warming Potential (GWP) for the water based recycling process based on a reuse of NMC material in new batteries.
It is possible to reduce the ecological damage of the manufacturing process of Li-Ion battery cells even with little amounts of recovered cathode material that is used for the production of new battery cells. Based on the suggestion that 95% of the NMC cathode material can be recovered by the hydrometallurgical recovery and the reuse of 10% within the production of new batteries a reduction of the GWP by 7% ,can be identified for the cathode materials. For other impact categories such as Acidification Potential (AP), Eutrophication Potential (EP), and Photochemical Ozone Creation Potential (POCP), savings of 10%, 11%, and 8 % can be achieved respectively.
The studied water based recycling process can be quoted as environment-friendly and leads to a reduction of all impact categories by a re-use of 10% recovered NMC material. Based on this knowledge an additional recycling on substance level is recommended.
The growth and sustainability of a manufacturing company extensively relies on customer satisfaction regarding the quality of its products. An exemplary study on the customer quality claim management of an international manufacturing company determined that one major reason for customer dissatisfaction was the inability to prioritize the reported quality problems. Therefore, the company’s focus was set to enhancing the customer claim resolution process by overcoming the challenges in the prioritization process. Considering the various factors which influence the prioritization process, this study provides a solution by using a unique prioritization technique for the management of customer quality claims. It also focuses on the implementation of the derived solution by providing an explicit evaluation method for each of the prioritization factors.
Social work across the world has been shaped by prevailing political systems, their influence on the welfare system and hence the social work profession. This thesis examines how the social work profession evolved in South Africa focusing on the political transition from Apartheid to democracy. Particular interests of the research are the development of South African social workers professionalism regarding professional conduct and professional identity. Moreover, it brings out the manifold changes the profession had to undergo in the political transition and consequently the issues the social work profession deals with today.
Design of a transverse controller for an autonomous driving model car based on the Stanley approach

The Stanley approach is an established transverse controller
for autonomous vehicle’s to follow a desired reference
path accordingly. In this publication, functional extensions of
the Stanley algorithm are demonstrated. The resulting overall
lateral controller can be used for autonomous model cars
especially.
In recent years, machine learning methods have taken a
firm place in society and their use continues to grow. The challenge
here is their little to almost non-existent interpretability. The aim of this
paper is to uncover the possibilities of interpreting machine learning. The
novel mechanisms and procedures of the emerging field of interpretable
machine learning are presented. In a two-part analysis, intrinsically
interpretable machine learning methods and established post-hoc interpretation
methods are examined in more detail. The focus is on their
functionality, properties and boundary conditions. Finally, a use case
will be used as an example to demonstrate how post-hoc interpretation
methods can contribute to the explainability of an image classifier and
systematically provide new insights into a model.

Subsequently, a neural network was trained on the generated virtual data and tested on real data.

This thesis deals with the analysis of the family policies in Finland, Sweden and Norway. The focus is on policies for families with children below the age of three years concerning day care and social services and benefits for parents. Thus, child benefit, child-related leave and home care allowance are in the centre of this thesis. The aspects of the welfare development, facts about their societies, as well as current challenges, complement this thesis. Eventually, the final analysis of the Nordic family policies is considered in an international comparison, focusing on Germany’s contextual issues.
This paper explores the influence of French cultural standards and dimensions on the corporate culture, the management style and the international development of the French petroleum company Total by using empirical methods. Due to its important degree of internationalisation, Total projects a considerably internationalised outward appearance, in which French national cultural influences are hardly recognisable. On the other hand, the internal processes and structures of the company are significantly more influenced by French cultural characteristics and standards. Qualitative individual interviews of employees from the middle management of Total provide the basis for the empirical examination. The results of these interviews confirm the findings of analytical studies, complement them with broader views and provide clear indications for the influence of national culture on the type of communication, hierarchical structure, as well as work organisation and decision making processes within the company.
